Baptism Sunday

August 9 at 9 & 11 AM

Have you recently put your faith in Jesus or have never taken the step of baptism? Baptism is a public declaration of your faith and an opportunity to share what God has done in your life.

Join us for our Baptism Classes on Sunday, August 2, during both services. Then, celebrate with us as we gather for Baptisms on Sunday, August 9.

If you'd like to be baptized or want to learn more about what baptism is and why it's important, check below for more information and sign up. We can't wait to celebrate this step of faith with you!

“Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change."

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change of motivation, loyalties and affections. It is also a visible and public declaration that the newborn Christian will no longer follow the world's ways, his or her old life of sin, nor the temptations of the devil. It is a symbol of the burial of the old self with its slavery to sin, and a resurrection into newness of life in Jesus Christ.

As we are submerged under the water, we identify with Jesus’ death for sin, and therefore our death to sin. As we are raised out of the water, we identify with the new life we share in Jesus. Death, and the power of sin, no longer has authority over us (Romans 6:1-6).

Although baptism is not a requirement for salvation, it is important. Baptism was commanded by Jesus (cf. Matt. 28:19) and taught and practiced by the Apostles in the book of Acts (Acts 2;38,41; 8:12, etc.). As a public act of faith, baptism also serves as a source of encouragement and a communal celebration of the unity shared in Christ, and the life we live together through faith, hope, and love.
